The fitting presses gently onto your nib and then screws into a standard syringe and allows you to flush the nib. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe machined fittings are very precise which allows for a good fit between the nib and the tool. Since the cleaning tool system uses pressure from water we need the fit between the nib's housing and the cleaning tool to be quiet tight unlike a normal fountain pen cartridge or converter.
